Swedish Covenant Hospital is a comprehensive healthcare facility, established more than 120 years ago, providing health and wellness services to the communities of Chicago's North and Northwest sides. An established academic and community hospital, Swedish Covenant Hospital offers a comprehensive range of medical programs, including cancer, cardiac, surgical, women's health and emergency services. Thanks to the tireless work of 2,200 employees, 550 physicians and 250 volunteers they are one of the few independent, nonprofit hospitals in the area.

Call Center
For patients that prefer to interact over the phone, the call center handles doctor referrals, event registration and payments using the same core data.
Hennessy Design asked us to put together a comprehensive system to solve myriad technological and process related issues for two current sites, a Call Center and a new online community.
We proposed a single system to replace the multiple back-end applications in place greatly simplifying the admin side of things. Using Drupal it also brought them up to speed with current web standards and gave them a platform to build the social networking site.
Additional requirements included four third-party applications to weave throughout the three sites; a back-end Call Center for doctor referrals and phone registration; and a class and events calendar with online paid registration. Just for fun they added in an on-line store after the site launched.
With the liberal use of modules content is easily shared – cross promoting the wide-range of services they offer. A user may start by looking for a midwife and end up watching a video, reading the midwifery blog, finding some health tips and sign-up for a yoga class geared directly to pregnancy. All dynamically driven from the system.
The biggest change has been the introduction of the Well Community site. This new site has doctor blogs, discussion forums and a magazine component to reach out to the community at large. Registered users can comment on articles or posts, participate in discussions or even start their own.
